The Inferno...

Okay, so for the past couple of weeks, I have dropped off the face of the earth!  Sorry for all of the missed calls and unanswered texts everyone...I still don't have pictures of the house all furnished, because it is a MESS!  But I have stories!!  So here goes...

After my last post about how wonderful the day was going to be, it only went downhill...So we were so excited to move into our house!  I had the whole weekend planned out, and I really really REALLY hate when plans do not go accordingly.  It was perfect, we would get our keys Friday, paint that night, and move in on Saturday, and have Sunday to relax.  Well, after a long Friday morning of waiting to get our keys, I got a call from Ted, our agent... (who by the way was the best agent EVER!  I hear soo many horror stories about real estate agents and how crappy they can be, and they never show you the right houses, but our agent was the BEST agent I've ever heard of!  If you want his info, let me know)...anyway, I got a call from Ted that afternoon and he basically said, "Sorry, something went wrong with the appraisal, and you can't get your keys until next week...hopefully Monday."  What the eff!  MONDAY?!?!  That ruins everything I had planned!  No one wants to move after they get off work, and Kelby and I don't have the kind of jobs that we can just take off days like that.  So I was really upset.  I went from being the happiest I've been, so excited to move in, to being the most upset I've ever been.  Not only do I hate when things don't go according to plan, but I also REALLY hate when I don't have any control over something.  This whole house process, from the day we picked our options, it has all been out of my control since then.  Too many people trying to come together to accomplish one task...it's not going to end smoothly, I'll tell you that much.  So once I heard the bad news, I had to go and tell everyone..again..."Thanks for clearing out your weekend to help us, but it looks like we won't be moving."  Grr.  Not only was I mad that I couldn't have my house, but I was embarrassed that I had to tell them for probably the fifth time.  Our moving date kept getting pushed back, and I was just at my ends with this stupid house.  I was ready to put it up for sale!  Anyway, so I tell everyone the bad news.  So I called my lender, who is also my co worker, and asked her what was going on, and it turns out that the appraiser messed up and appraised it wrong and refused to fix it!!  How lame is he!  Luckily, it was something that I had control over, and I could fix it!  YAY!  Finally, something in my control.  Keep in mind, this was about 4:00, and everyone leaves the office at 5, so we had to hurry!  I got everything submitted to the people it needed to go to, and it was once again out of my hands.  I just stared at the clock, waiting for someone to call and say "Okay!  You can get your keys"...well, no one ever called, so we just decided to go to the office and ask for our keys, and it worked!  They gave them to me!!  Holy smokes!  I couldn't believe it.  After everything we went through over the last 7 months, it's finally ours!  So my plan ended up working out.  I stayed up until 4:00 painting, with the wonderful help of Lindsay and Patrice. We got up at 8:00 the next day and started moving...and I haven't stopped since!

Just about every room is all put together.  The loft and the master bedroom are the only two rooms that need to be put together.  I hope to get those done by this weekend, so I will post pics soon!

You can't really tell, but I just hammered my first nail in the wall!

This is the first thing I hung up!

Last Friday, some of Kelby's family came over to see the place.  The whole place was a mess, and I was kind of embarrassed to show it to everyone.  I had just got off work, and was so ready to start unpacking some stuff, when everyone started showing up.  Even though I wanted to unpack stuff, it was still nice to be forced to take a break from all the crap that was waiting for me behind closed doors.

So...Dear Gary, Kathy, Brody, Brad, and John...just in case I didn't mention it to you, thanks for coming down to see the house!  =]

Here are my future parents-in-law...Gary and Kathy!

My future brother-in-law, Brody and Bambina's future cousin? Randi!
Okay, that was kind of lame of me..haha

After all the fun and games of Friday night were over, we headed into the wonderful day of Saturday!  Yay for landscaping :(  I cannot tell you how grateful I will be once this stupid yard is done with!  As soon as we finish the sprinklers (which I hope will be tomorrow), we are going to hire people to put in the fence and the sod, and I know it's going to be worth EVERY penny!  I'm surprised Kelby hasn't put a bed up in the spare room!   He's probably so sick of me trying to control what's going on, when really, I just need to sit back and let him deal with the yard.  I'm sorry Kelby :]

It's kind of hard to tell, but we had to put up a retaining wall so that we could raise up our yard to make it all level.  It was a pain and probably won't last very long.  I'm just hoping the fence doesn't collapse!

Kelsey, Kelby, and Kathy all working out in the yard.  Once we leveled it out, it turned out really nice!

And now our yard still looks like this...but worse.  We didn't buy all of the right connectors, so we couldn't get all of it done and buried, then the rain came pouring down this last week and collapsed all of our trenches!  Oh yeah, and some lame neighbor kids decided to kick a bunch of them in too.

As you can see, we have a lot of work cut out for us this weekend!  If anyone wants to come help, feel free!  =]  On a side note, but I thought it was neat, Kathy actually knows the people that moved in behind us!  Small world!

So that is where Kelby and I have been these last two weeks.  We hope to come out of our hole soon, and begin having lives again!

Thanks everyone for helping us last weekend, and this weekend!  We appreciate it SOOO much!
